Meanwhile at Winterfell, Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) betrays the Starks, takes the castle to try and gain the favour of his father Balon and pretends to kill Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) and Rickon Stark (Art Parkinson) - though they have actually escaped thanks to Osha (Natalia Tena) and Hodor (Kristian Nairn). Stannis eventually makes it to King’s Landing, where he is soundly defeated by Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and a stock of Wildfire - though rather than gaining plaudits for the Battle of Blackwater, Tyrion is demoted, with Tywin taking his place as Hand. Catelyn is there as part of a diplomatic mission to persuade the Baratheons to join Robb, who is at this point undefeated in battle, in a united front against Joffrey.įollowing Renly’s death, Catelyn tasks Brienne with transporting her prisoner Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) to King’s Landing, where he will be swapped for Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), who is actually not there and in hiding working for Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), who is engaged to the increasingly sadistic Joffrey.
